Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बुद्धिः प्रणीता येन इयम् मनः च सुसमाहितम् ।
तत् तु न अर्हामि सम्क्लेष्टुम् प्रव्रजिष्यामि माचिरम् ॥ ॥२-२२-१४॥
Buddhiḥ praṇītā yena iyam manaḥ ca susamāhitam । Tat tu na arhāmi samkleṣṭum pravrajiṣyāmi māciram ॥ ॥2-22-14॥
Translation
I do not consider it proper to distress the one by whom this resolve was inspired and whose mind is firmly set on it (referring to his father Dasharatha). Therefore, I shall go into exile without delay.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिनके द्वारा यह बुद्धि (वनवास का निर्णय) प्रेरित की गई है और जिनका मन इसमें भली-भांति लगा हुआ है (अर्थात पिता दशरथ या नियति), उन्हें मैं क्लेश देना उचित नहीं समझता। अतः मैं शीघ्र (बिना देर किए) वन चला जाऊंगा।
English Commentary
Rama concludes his argument to Lakshmana. He refers to the agent of this decision (yena - by whom) which is Dasharatha. Even though Dasharatha was forced, the formal resolve (buddhi) stands in his name, and his integrity depends on it. Rama states he does not deserve (na arhāmi) to be the cause of further distress (samkleṣṭum) to his father by dragging his feet. To prolong the departure is to prolong the King's agony. Thus, Rama declares he will exile himself māciram (soon/without delay), prioritizing his father's relief over his own rights.
हिंदी टीका
राम यहाँ अपनी बात का उपसंहार करते हैं। 'येन' (जिसके द्वारा) से तात्पर्य राजा दशरथ से है। दशरथ ने ही कैकेयी को वचन दिए थे और अंततः राम को वन भेजने की 'बुद्धि' (निर्णय) स्वीकार की थी, भले ही विवशता में। उनका मन अब इसी सत्य पालन में 'सुसमाहितम्' (स्थिर) है। राम कहते हैं कि यदि मैं देरी करता हूँ, तो मैं उन्हें 'संक्लेष्टुम्' (कष्ट देना) करूँगा। राम अपने पिता को और अधिक मानसिक पीड़ा नहीं देना चाहते। इसलिए वे 'माचिरम्' (बिना देर किए) वन जाने की घोषणा करते हैं। यह राम के पितृ-प्रेम की पराकाष्ठा है।
