सो अभिषेक निवृत्ति अर्थैः प्रवास अर्थैः च दुर्वचैः ।
उग्रैः वाक्यैः अहम् तस्या न अन्यद् दैवात् समर्थये ॥२-२२-१८॥
so abhiṣeka nivṛtti arthaiḥ pravāsa arthaiḥ ca durvacaiḥ । ugraiḥ vākyaiḥ aham tasyā na anyad daivāt samarthaye ॥2-22-18॥
Translation
Therefore, I do not attribute her harsh and fierce words—intended to stop the coronation and enforce exile—to anything other than Destiny.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अतः, राज्याभिषेक को रोकने वाले और वनवास देने वाले उन कठोर तथा उग्र वचनों को मैं दैव के अतिरिक्त और किसी कारण से उपजा हुआ नहीं मानता।
English Commentary
Shri Rama clarifies here that the words spoken by Kaikeyi were not truly hers. The specific commands stopping the coronation and ordering the exile were so "fierce" (ugra) and "harsh" (durvac) that they could not possibly originate from a loving mother. Rama explains to Lakshmana that Kaikeyi is merely a vessel; the true speaker is Destiny. This perspective not only absolves Kaikeyi of blame in Rama's eyes but also protects Rama from mental anguish, as he views this not as a personal attack by a relative, but as the inevitable will of the Divine.

श्रीराम यहाँ स्पष्ट करते हैं कि कैकेयी के मुख से निकले शब्द उनके अपने नहीं थे। जिन वचनों ने राज्याभिषेक रोका और वनवास दिया, वे इतने "उग्र" और "दुर्वच" (बुरे शब्द) थे कि वे एक स्नेही माता के हो ही नहीं सकते। श्रीराम लक्ष्मण को समझा रहे हैं कि कैकेयी तो केवल एक माध्यम है; बोलने वाला वास्तव में 'दैव' है। यह दृष्टिकोण न केवल कैकेयी को दोषमुक्त करता है, बल्कि श्रीराम को मानसिक क्लेश से भी बचाता है, क्योंकि वे इसे किसी व्यक्ति का आक्रमण नहीं, बल्कि ईश्वर की इच्छा मानते हैं।
