Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कश्चित् दैवेन सौमित्रे योद्धुम् उत्सहते पुमान् ।
यस्य न ग्रहणम् किम्चित् कर्मणो अन्यत्र दृश्यते ॥२-२२-२१॥
kaścit daivena saumitre yoddhum utsahate pumān । yasya na grahaṇam kimcit karmaṇo anyatra dṛśyate ॥2-22-21॥
Translation
O Lakshmana, what man can dare to fight against Destiny? For it cannot be perceived or grasped in any way other than through the manifestation of its acts (consequences).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे लक्ष्मण! ऐसा कौन पुरुष है जो दैव के साथ युद्ध करने का साहस कर सके? क्योंकि दैव का स्वरूप, उसके कर्म (फल) के प्रकट होने के अतिरिक्त, अन्य किसी प्रकार से जाना नहीं जा सकता।
English Commentary
Lakshmana’s anger inclined him toward rebellion and fighting, but Rama dismisses this as futile. He asks how one can fight an enemy that is invisible. Destiny has no physical form; it is only perceived post facto, once the consequence has manifested. Just as one cannot grasp the wind, one cannot defeat Destiny through martial combat. Rama instructs Lakshmana that physical strength is useless against cosmic will; in such situations, acceptance and endurance are the only viable responses, not aggression.

लक्ष्मण का क्रोध युद्ध और विरोध की ओर था, लेकिन श्रीराम उसे निरर्थक बताते हैं। वे प्रश्न करते हैं कि आप उस शत्रु से कैसे लड़ सकते हैं जो अदृश्य है? दैव का कोई भौतिक रूप नहीं है; वह केवल तब दिखाई देता है जब घटना घट जाती है (परिणाम सामने आता है)। जैसे हवा को मुट्ठी में नहीं पकड़ा जा सकता, वैसे ही दैव को युद्ध द्वारा नहीं हराया जा सकता। श्रीराम यहाँ लक्ष्मण को समझाते हैं कि भौतिक बल का प्रयोग नियति के विरुद्ध व्यर्थ है, वहां केवल स्वीकारोक्ति ही काम आती है।
