तस्याः शन्कामयम् दुह्खम् मुहूर्तम् अपि न उत्सहे ।
मनसि प्रतिसम्जातम् सौमित्रे अहम् उपेक्षितुम् ॥ ॥२-२२-७॥
Tasyāḥ śankāmayam duhkham muhūrtam api na utsahe । Manasi pratisamjātam saumitre aham upekṣitum ॥ ॥2-22-7॥
Translation
O Sumitra's son, I cannot bear to ignore, even for a moment, the sorrow born of suspicion that has arisen in her mind.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौमित्र! उनके (कैकेयी के) मन में उत्पन्न हुए शंकाजन्य दुःख को मैं एक मुहूर्त (क्षण भर) के लिए भी अनदेखा (उपेक्षित) करने का साहस/इच्छा नहीं कर सकता।
English Commentary
Rama elaborates on why he wants to leave quickly. He cannot bear (na utsahe - literally, do not have the enthusiasm/heart to bear) the idea that Kaikeyi is suffering from the "pain of suspicion" (śankāmayam duhkham). Even though her suspicion challenges Rama's integrity, he validates her feelings as real pain that needs curing. He refuses to neglect (upekṣitum) her emotional state even for a muhurta (a fleeting moment). This reveals Rama's protective nature; he feels responsible for the emotions of everyone around him, including those who oppose him.

राम यहाँ अपनी संवेदनशीलता प्रकट करते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि कैकेयी का दुःख—भले ही वह उनके अपने स्वार्थ और अविश्वास के कारण हो—राम के लिए असहनीय है। 'शंकामयम् दुःखम्' का अर्थ है वह पीड़ा जो इस डर से पैदा होती है कि "क्या मेरी इच्छा पूरी होगी?"। राम कहते हैं कि वे इस दुःख को 'उपेक्षितुम्' (अनदेखा करने) में समर्थ नहीं हैं। यह एक आदर्श पुत्र का लक्षण है जो माता के अकारण क्रोध या संदेह को भी अपने प्रेम से शांत करना चाहता है। राम नहीं चाहते कि उनके कारण किसी के भी मन में, विशेषकर माता के मन में, क्षण भर के लिए भी क्लेश रहे।
