अद्य मत् पौरुष हतम् दैवम् द्रक्ष्यन्ति वै जनाः ।
यद् दैवात् आहतम् ते अद्य द्Rष्टम् राज्य अभिषेचनम् ॥२-२३-१९॥
adya mat pauruṣa hatam daivam drakṣyanti vai janāḥ । yad daivāt āhatam te adya dṛṣṭam rājya abhiṣecanam ॥2-23-19॥
Translation
People shall see that very Destiny, which has struck down your coronation today, being struck down and destroyed by my prowess.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस दैव ने आज आपके राज्याभिषेक को नष्ट (आहत) कर दिया है, आज लोग उसी दैव को मेरे पौरुष द्वारा मारा गया देखेंगे।
English Commentary
Lakshmana's confidence soars. He acknowledges that Destiny struck the first blow by halting the coronation, but he vows to strike the counter-blow. He personifies Destiny as an enemy that can be "killed" (hatam) by his valor. His intention is to forcefully remove all obstacles and ensure the coronation takes place, thereby physically demonstrating the defeat of the Destiny Rama fears.

लक्ष्मण का आत्मविश्वास यहाँ उफान पर है। वे कहते हैं कि दैव ने पहला वार किया (अभिषेक रोककर), अब मैं जवाबी वार करूँगा। वे दैव को एक मूर्त शत्रु की तरह देखते हैं जिसे वे अपने बाहुबल से "मार" (हतम्) सकते हैं। लक्ष्मण का आशय है कि वे बाधाओं को बलपूर्वक हटा देंगे और राज्याभिषेक संपन्न कराकर ही दम लेंगे, जिससे यह सिद्ध होगा कि दैव हार गया।
