असिना तीक्ष्ण धारेण विद्युच् चलित वर्चसा ।
प्रग्Rहीतेन वै शत्रुम् वज्रिणम् वा न कल्पये ॥२-२३-३२॥
asinā tīkṣṇa dhāreṇa vidyuc calita varcasā |
pragṛhītena vai śatrum vajriṇam vā na kalpaye ॥2-23-32॥
Translation
When I hold my sharp-edged sword, shining like a flash of lightning, I would not regard even the wielder of the Thunderbolt (Indra) as an enemy (worthy of concern).
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब मैं बिजली के समान चमकती हुई तीक्ष्ण धार वाली तलवार हाथ में लूँगा, तो मैं वज्रधारी इंद्र को भी (शत्रु के रूप में) कुछ नहीं समझूँगा (उन्हें भी परास्त कर दूँगा)।
English Commentary
As a climax to his display of fury and valor (in this context), Lakshmana makes the ultimate comparison. Vajrinam (Indra, the wielder of the Vajra) is considered the King of Gods and the mightiest warrior. Lakshmana asserts that once his sword is drawn, even Indra would be of no consequence to him. This is not mere arrogance, but the supreme self-confidence of a warrior standing against injustice. The phrase vidyuc calita varcasā (shining like moving lightning) describes the speed and brilliance of his blade. Lakshmana aims to assure Rama that earthly kings are trivial; he is prepared to war against Heaven itself to secure Rama’s rights.

अपने क्रोध और वीरता के प्रदर्शन के समापन (इस सर्ग के संदर्भ में) के रूप में, लक्ष्मण सर्वोच्च तुलना करते हैं। 'वज्रिणम्' (इंद्र) देवताओं के राजा और सबसे शक्तिशाली योद्धा माने जाते हैं। लक्ष्मण कहते हैं कि जब उनकी तलवार निकलती है, तो इंद्र भी उनके सामने टिक नहीं सकते। यह अहंकार नहीं, बल्कि क्षत्रिय का 'आत्म-विश्वास' है जो अन्याय के विरुद्ध खड़ा है। यहाँ 'विद्युच् चलित वर्चसा' (बिजली की तरह चंचल और चमकदार) तलवार की गति और तीव्रता का वर्णन करता है। लक्ष्मण राम को यह विश्वास दिलाना चाहते हैं कि पृथ्वी के राजाओं की तो बिसात ही क्या, वे राम के अधिकार के लिए स्वर्ग से भी युद्ध कर सकते हैं।
