बहुभिः च एकम् अत्यस्यन्न् एकेन च बहून् जनान् ।
विनियोक्ष्याम्य् अहम् बाणान् नृ वाजि गज मर्मसु ॥२-२३-३६॥
bahubhiḥ ca ekam atyasyann ekena ca bahūn janān |
viniyokṣyāmy aham bāṇān nṛ vāji gaja marmasu ॥2-23-36॥
Translation
Striking one with many arrows and many people with a single arrow, I will unleash my shafts into the vital parts of men, horses, and elephants.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं कई बाणों से एक (शत्रु) को और एक बाण से कई लोगों को बेधता हुआ, मनुष्यों, घोड़ों और हाथियों के मर्म-स्थानों (कोमल अंगों) पर अपने बाणों का प्रयोग करूँगा।
English Commentary
Here, Lakshmana describes the technical superiority of his archery. Striking 'many with one arrow' demonstrates the sheer power and velocity of his shots (piercing through targets), while striking 'one with many arrows' demonstrates his speed and dexterity of hand. The word marmasu (vital points) is crucial—he knows exactly where to strike to neutralize enemies instantly. Lakshmana clarifies that his rage is not blind; his warfare is precise and lethal. He claims mastery in both crowd control and taking down single powerful combatants, assuring Rama of his tactical dominance.
