English Commentary
The first half of this verse concludes Rama's argument with a conditional warning: happiness awaits upon his return, provided that King Dasharatha ('dharmabhritam shreshtho') survives the separation. This places the burden of the King's survival squarely on Kausalya's care. Rama implies that without her support, the King might not last, thereby nullifying any future joy. The second half shifts to the narrative voice. Kausalya, overwhelmed by the irrefutable logic and moral weight of Rama's words, is left with tear-filled eyes ('baspa paryakula ikshana'). Her emotional resistance crumbles before Rama's dharmic stance, marking the beginning of her acceptance.

इस श्लोक का पूर्वार्ध राम के संवाद का अंतिम हिस्सा है और उत्तरार्ध कथा का वर्णन है। राम एक कठोर सत्य (Condition) रखते हैं—सब कुछ मंगलमय होगा 'यदि' दशरथ जीवित रहें। यह कौशल्या को याद दिलाने का अंतिम प्रयास है कि उनका मुख्य दायित्व राजा के प्राणों की रक्षा करना है। राम यह संकेत दे रहे हैं कि यदि कौशल्या ने राजा का साथ छोड़ा, तो राजा के जीवित रहने की संभावना क्षीण हो जाएगी। उत्तरार्ध में कौशल्या की प्रतिक्रिया का वर्णन है। राम के तर्कसंगत और धर्मयुक्त वचनों को सुनकर वह निरुत्तर हो जाती हैं, और उनकी आँखों में केवल आंसू शेष रह जाते हैं ('बाष्प पर्याकुल ईक्षणा')। यह मौन स्वीकृति का क्षण है।
