न शक्यसे वारयितुम् गच्छेदानीम् रघुत्तम ।
शीघ्रम् च विनिवर्तस्व वर्तस्व च सताम् क्रमे ॥२-२५-२॥
na śakyase vārayitum gacchedānīm raghuttama |
śīghram ca vinivartasva vartasva ca satām krame ॥2-25-2॥
Translation
(Kausalya said) "O Best of Raghu's lineage, you cannot be dissuaded; go now. But return quickly, and abide in the path of the righteous."

(कौशल्या ने कहा) "हे रघुकुल में श्रेष्ठ! तुम्हें (वन जाने से) रोका नहीं जा सकता, (अतः) अब तुम जाओ। (किंतु) शीघ्र वापस लौटना और (वन में) सत्पुरुषों के मार्ग (धर्म) पर चलना।"
English Commentary
As she performs the rites, Kausalya speaks her final consent. Admitting that Rama cannot be stopped, she releases him with 'gaccha idanim' (go now). Addressing him as 'Raghuttama' affirms that his stubbornness in truth is a trait of his noble lineage. Her blessing contains two injunctions: 'shighram vinivartasva' (return quickly), satisfying her maternal heart, and 'vartasva satam krame' (tread the path of the righteous), satisfying the moral imperative. She exhorts him to maintain the conduct of saints even in the wild forest, ensuring that while he loses the kingdom, he does not lose his character.

मंगल कार्य करते हुए कौशल्या राम को अंतिम निर्देश देती हैं। वे स्वीकार करती हैं कि राम को रोकना असंभव है ('न शक्यसे वारयितुम्')। 'रघुत्तम' (रघुओं में श्रेष्ठ) संबोधन का प्रयोग करके वे याद दिलाती हैं कि राम रघुकुल की रीत निभा रहे हैं। उनका आशीर्वाद दो भागों में है: पहला, 'शीघ्रम् च विनिवर्तस्व' (जल्दी लौटना)—जो माँ की इच्छा है। दूसरा, 'वर्तस्व च सताम् क्रमे' (सज्जनों के मार्ग पर चलना)—जो एक क्षत्राणी का उपदेश है। वन में राक्षस और अधर्म होगा, लेकिन राम को 'सताम् क्रमे' (सत्य और धर्म के मार्ग) पर ही चलना है। यह आशीर्वाद सुरक्षा और नैतिकता दोनों का कवच है।
