उपस्पर्शनकाले तु पान्तु त्वाम् रघुन्ददन ।
सर्व लोक प्रभुर् ब्रह्मा भूत भर्ता तथा ऋषयः ॥ ॥२-२५-२५॥
Upasparśanakāle tu pāntu tvām raghundadana । Sarva loka prabhur brahmā bhūta bhartā tathā ṛṣayaḥ ॥ ॥2-25-25॥
Translation
O Scion of Raghu! At the time of your daily ablutions and sipping of water (Upasparshana), may Brahma, the Lord of all worlds, the Sustainer of beings, and the Sages protect you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे रघुनंदन! (स्नान और पूजा के समय) आचमन करते समय (उपस्पर्शन काले), सब लोकों के स्वामी ब्रह्मा, प्राणियों का पालन करने वाले भगवान (विष्णु/शिव) और ऋषिगण तुम्हारी रक्षा करें।
English Commentary
Kausalya focuses on a specific moment of vulnerability: Upasparshana-kale, the time of sipping water for ritual purification or bathing. During these rituals, a warrior is unarmed and in a meditative state, making him susceptible to attack. Recognizing this, she calls upon the highest powers—Lord Brahma (Lord of all worlds) and the Bhuta-bharta (Sustainer of all beings, often interpreted as Vishnu or Shiva) along with the Rishis—to stand guard while Rama performs his religious duties. It shows her foresight regarding the practical dangers of forest life where enemies strike when one is distracted.

'उपस्पर्शन' का अर्थ है आचमन करना या पवित्र स्नान करना। यह वह समय होता है जब व्यक्ति निहत्था और ध्यानमग्न होता है, अतः भौतिक रूप से असुरक्षित होता है। कौशल्या विशेष रूप से इस संवेदनशील समय के लिए सुरक्षा मांगती हैं। वह 'सर्व लोक प्रभु ब्रह्मा' (सृष्टिकर्ता) और 'भूत भर्ता' (प्राणियों के रक्षक/पोषक) का आह्वान करती हैं। यह दर्शाता है कि वन में दैनिक क्रियाओं के दौरान भी राम को ईश्वरीय सुरक्षा की आवश्यकता होगी। रघुनंदन संबोधन राम को उनके महान पूर्वजों की याद दिलाता है, जिनका पुण्य भी उनके साथ है।
