Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अदितिर्मङ्गLअम् प्रादात् तत्ते भवतु मङ्गLअम् ।
तीन्विक्रमान् प्रकमतो विष्णोरमिततेजसः ॥ ॥२-२५-३५॥
Aditirmaṅgalam prādāt tatte bhavatu maṅgalam । Tīnvikramān prakamato viṣṇoramitatejasaḥ ॥ ॥2-25-35॥
Translation
"May the blessing that Aditi gave to the immensely glorious Vishnu when he was taking the three strides (as Vamana) be yours."

"अमित तेजस्वी विष्णु जब (वामन अवतार में) तीन डग भर रहे थे, तब माता अदिति ने उन्हें जो मंगल आशीर्वाद दिया था, वह तुम्हें प्राप्त हो।"
English Commentary
This verse is laden with dramatic irony. Kausalya invokes the blessing Aditi gave to Vishnu (in his Vamana avatar) as he took his famous 'three strides' (Tin vikraman) to encompass the universe. She prays that Rama be blessed just as Vishnu was. Unknowingly, she compares the Avatar (Rama) to his own previous incarnation. The reference to Trivikrama (Conqueror of the Three Worlds) suggests her wish for Rama to dominate the space he walks upon, turning the forest into his own domain through his boundless glory (Amita-tejas).

यह रामायण के सबसे मार्मिक श्लोकों में से एक है। राम स्वयं विष्णु के अवतार हैं, लेकिन कौशल्या (जो यह रहस्य नहीं जानतीं या पुत्र-मोह में भूल गई हैं) विष्णु के वामन अवतार का उदाहरण देती हैं। वामन ने तीन पगों में तीनों लोक नाप लिए थे (त्रिविक्रम)। अदिति देवताओं की माता हैं। कौशल्या अपने पुत्र की तुलना उस सर्वोच्च शक्ति से करती हैं जिसने बिना शस्त्र उठाए, केवल अपनी बुद्धि और स्वरूप से ब्रह्मांड को जीत लिया था। वह चाहती हैं कि राम भी वन में अपने 'विक्रम' (पराक्रम/कदमों) से भूमि को पावन और विजित करें।
