न ते शत शलाकेन जल फेन निभेन च ।
आवृतम् वदनम् वल्गु चत्रेण अभिविराजते ॥२-२६-१०॥
Na te śataśalākena jalaphenanibhena ca |
Āvṛtam vadanam valgu chatreṇa abhivirājate ॥2-26-10॥
Translation
"Your lovely face is not shining today, covered by the hundred-ribbed umbrella which is white like the foam of water."

"आपका सुंदर मुख आज सौ तीलियों वाले और जल के झाग (फेन) के समान श्वेत छत्र (छाते) से ढका हुआ सुशोभित नहीं हो रहा है।"
English Commentary
Sita begins to list the missing symbols of royalty to diagnose the problem. She notices the absence of the Royal Umbrella (Chatra). She describes it poetically as having a hundred ribs ('śataśalākena') and being as white as sea foam ('jalaphenanibhena'). The umbrella is not just a sunshade; it is the primary symbol of sovereignty and protection over the monarch. By noting that Rama's face is not shaded by this umbrella, she is essentially observing that the anticipated elevation of status has not physically manifested. She realizes he stands before her as an ordinary man, not a crowned king.

अब सीता उन राज-चिह्नों (Royal Insignias) की अनुपस्थिति गिनाना शुरू करती हैं जो एक अभिषिक्त राजा या युवराज के साथ होने चाहिए। सबसे पहले वह 'छत्र' (Royal Umbrella) की बात करती हैं। वह छत्र 'शत शलाकेन' (सौ तीलियों वाला) और 'जल फेन निभेन' (समुद्र के झाग जैसा उज्ज्वल सफेद) होना चाहिए। यह श्वेत छत्र प्रभुता और राजसी सुरक्षा का प्रतीक है। सीता देख रही हैं कि राम अकेले आए हैं, बिना उस छत्र के। यह एक बहुत बड़ा संकेत है कि राज्याभिषेक संपन्न नहीं हुआ है। सीता का यह निरीक्षण अत्यंत सूक्ष्म है और राजसी मर्यादाओं के प्रति उनकी जागरूकता को दर्शाता है।
