अद्य बार्हस्पतः श्रीमान् युक्तः पुष्यो न राघव ।
प्रोच्यते ब्राह्मणैः प्राज्ञैः केन त्वम् असि दुर्मनाः ॥२-२६-९॥
Adya bārhaspataḥ śrīmān yuktaḥ puṣyo nu rāghava |
Procyate brāhmaṇaiḥ prājñaiḥ kena tvam asi durmanāḥ ॥2-26-9॥
Translation
"O Raghava, today the auspicious Pushya constellation, presided over by Brihaspati, is in conjunction, as declared by learned Brahmins. Why then are you so downcast?"

"हे राघव! आज विद्वान ब्राह्मणों द्वारा घोषित किया गया है कि बृहस्पति देवता वाला कल्याणकारी 'पुष्य' नक्षत्र योग में है। फिर आप उदास क्यों हैं?"
English Commentary
Sita tries to rationalize the situation by pointing out the astrological auspiciousness of the day. She mentions the 'Pushya' star, which is presided over by Brihaspati (Jupiter) and is considered ideal for coronation. By invoking the authority of the 'learned Brahmins', she highlights that objectively, everything should be perfect. Her query "Kena tvam asi durmanāḥ" (By what reason are you downcast?) underscores the confusion—the external cosmic alignment is perfect for victory and celebration, so Rama's internal state of sorrow is completely incongruous to the occasion.

सीता अब तर्कों के माध्यम से राम की उदासी का कारण समझने का प्रयास करती हैं। वह याद दिलाती हैं कि आज 'पुष्य' नक्षत्र है, जो राज्याभिषेक के लिए चुना गया अत्यंत शुभ मुहूर्त है। 'बार्हस्पतः' का अर्थ है जिसका स्वामी बृहस्पति (देवताओं के गुरु) है। सीता का तर्क है कि जब समय इतना शुभ है और विद्वान ब्राह्मणों ('ब्राह्मणैः प्राज्ञैः') ने इसकी घोषणा की है, तो 'दुर्मनाः' (दुखी मन) होने का कोई कारण नहीं होना चाहिए। यह श्लोक सीता की विद्वता और ज्योतिष के ज्ञान को भी दर्शाता है, साथ ही वह राम को याद दिला रही हैं कि यह समय उत्सव का है, विषाद का नहीं।
