न त्वाम् प्रकृतयः सर्वा श्रेणी मुख्याः च भूषिताः ।
अनुव्रजितुम् इच्चन्ति पौर जापपदाः तथा ॥२-२६-१४॥
Na tvāṃ prakṛtayaḥ sarvā śreṇīmukhyāḥ ca bhūṣitāḥ |
Anuvrajitum icchanti paurajānapadāḥ tathā ॥2-26-14॥
Translation
"The citizens, the chiefs of the guilds, and the people of the towns and villages, all decorated, do not wish to follow you (as is expected)."

English Commentary
A coronation is a public event involving the consensus of the society. Sita notes the absence of the 'prakṛtayaḥ' (subjects/officials), 'śreṇīmukhyāḥ' (heads of merchant guilds), and the general populace of the city and country. Typically, these key figures, dressed in their finery ('bhūṣitāḥ'), would follow the newly anointed king in a grand procession to show their allegiance. Rama's solitary arrival suggests he has been isolated from the body politic. Sita recognizes that a King without his people following him is a contradiction, further deepening the mystery of his sorrow.

एक राजा की शक्ति उसकी प्रजा होती है। राज्याभिषेक के समय 'श्रेणी मुख्याः' (Guild leaders/Business heads), 'पौर' (शहरी लोग) और 'जानपद' (ग्रामीण लोग) नए राजा के पीछे एक जुलूस के रूप में चलते हैं। यह 'अनुव्रजितुम्' (पीछे चलना) निष्ठा का प्रदर्शन है। सीता देख रही हैं कि राम अकेले हैं; उनके पीछे वह जन-सैलाब नहीं है जो एक राजा के साथ होना चाहिए। 'भूषिताः' शब्द दर्शाता है कि जनता को भी आज के दिन सजा-धजा होना चाहिए था। सीता का यह प्रश्न सामाजिक समर्थन की अनुपस्थिति की ओर संकेत करता है, जो अत्यंत चिंताजनक है।
