तस्मै दत्तम् नृवतिना यौवराज्यम् सनातनम् ।
स प्रसाद्यस्त्वया सीते नृपतिश्च विशेषतः ॥२-२६-२७॥
Tasmai dattam nṛpatinā yauvarājyam sanātanam |
Sa prasādyastvayā sīte nṛpatiśca viśeṣataḥ ॥2-26-27॥
Translation
"The King has given the eternal Crown Prince status to him. Therefore, O Sita, he must be propitiated by you, especially since he is now the ruler."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"राजा (दशरथ) ने उन्हें (भरत को) सनातन युवराज पद दे दिया है। हे सीते! तुम्हें उन्हें प्रसन्न रखना होगा, विशेषकर इसलिए क्योंकि अब वे राजा (शासक) हैं।"
English Commentary
Rama reinforces the permanence of the situation. The 'yauvarājyam' (heir-apparent status) has been legally transferred to Bharata. Rama instructs Sita that Bharata is now the one to be 'prasādyas' (propitiated/pleased). By adding 'viśeṣataḥ' (especially), he highlights that since Bharata holds the power, her well-being depends on his favor. Rama acts here with extreme pragmatism, trying to secure a safe existence for Sita in Ayodhya before he departs for the forest alone.

राम अपनी बात का समापन करते हुए स्थिति की अंतिम मुहर लगाते हैं। भरत अब सत्ता के केंद्र में हैं ('नृपतिश्च'). 'प्रसाद्यः' का अर्थ है जिसे प्रसन्न रखना पड़े। राम सीता को निर्देश दे रहे हैं कि भरत के साथ विरोध नहीं, बल्कि उन्हें खुश रखने का प्रयास करना है। यहाँ राम यह मान चुके हैं कि सीता वन नहीं जाएंगी। वे एक पति की तरह नहीं, बल्कि एक अभिभावक की तरह सीता को आने वाले कठिन समय के लिए दिशा-निर्देश दे रहे हैं।
