Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वैदेही च अपि तत् सर्वम् न शुश्राव तपस्विनी ।
तत् एव हृदि तस्याः च यौवराज्य अभिषेचनम् ॥ ॥२-२६-३॥
Vaidehi ca api tat sarvam na śuśrāva tapasvinī । Tat eva hṛdi tasyāḥ ca yauvarājya abhiṣecanam ॥ ॥2-26-3॥
Translation
Vaidehi (Sita), the devoted one, had heard none of this. In her heart, there was only the thought of the consecration ceremony for the Crown Prince.

उधर तपस्विनी वैदेही (सीता) ने यह सब कुछ नहीं सुना था। उनके हृदय में तो बस वही 'युवराज पद पर अभिषेक' का विचार चल रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse sets the stage for a heartbreaking confrontation through dramatic irony. While the streets are churning with grief, Sita is blissfully ignorant (Na shushrava - did not hear). The contrast is sharp: outside is exile; inside her heart is the Abhishechanam (coronation). Valmiki refers to her as Tapasvini (ascetic/poor dear), foreshadowing her immediate future as an ascetic in the forest, though she currently expects to be a queen. This innocence heightens the emotional impact of the news Rama is about to break to her.
