देव कार्यम् स्म सा कृत्वा कृतज्ञा हृष्ट चेतना ।
अभिज्ञा राज धर्मानाम् राज पुत्रम् प्रतीक्षते ॥२-२६-४॥
Devakāryam sma sā kṛtvā kṛtajñā hṛṣṭacetanā |
Abhijñā rājadharmāṇām rājaputram pratīkṣate ॥2-26-4॥
Translation
Having performed her divine religious rites, grateful and with a happy mind, she (Sita), who was well-versed in royal duties, waited for the Prince.

राजधर्म को जानने वाली, कृतज्ञ और प्रसन्न चित्त वाली सीता, देव-पूजा (प्रातःकालीन पूजन) समाप्त करके राजकुमार राम की प्रतीक्षा कर रही थीं।
English Commentary
This verse sets a scene of dramatic irony. Sita is described as 'hṛṣṭacetanā' (happy-minded) and 'kṛtajñā' (grateful), having finished her prayers to thank the gods for Rama's upcoming coronation. The epithet 'abhijñā rājadharmāṇām' (knower of royal duties) suggests she understands the significance of the day and is waiting to receive Rama as the Crown Prince. She is completely unaware of the catastrophe that has occurred with Kaikeyi. Her innocent anticipation sharply contrasts with the heavy burden Rama is carrying as he approaches her, heightening the emotional impact of the impending revelation.
