काल्यम् उत्थाय देवानाम् कृत्वा पूजाम् यथा विधि ।
वन्दितव्यो दशरथः पिता मम नर ईश्वरः ॥२-२६-३०॥
Kālyam utthāya devānām kṛtvā pūjām yathā vidhi |
Vanditavyo daśarathaḥ pitā mama nara īśvaraḥ ॥2-26-30॥
Translation
"Rising early at dawn and performing worship of the gods according to the rituals, you must offer salutations to my father, Dasharatha, the Lord of men."

"प्रातःकाल (काल्यम्) उठकर और विधि-पूर्वक देवताओं की पूजा करके, तुम्हें मेरे पिता राजा (नरेश्वर) दशरथ की वंदना करनी चाहिए।"
English Commentary
Rama outlines Sita's daily duties in his absence. It begins with "kālyam utthāya" (waking up at dawn) and worshipping the divine. Crucially, he instructs her to bow to Dasharatha daily. Despite Dasharatha being the instrument of his exile, Rama refers to him respectfully as "Nara īśvaraḥ" (Lord of men). This instruction serves two purposes: it ensures Sita adheres to the highest family etiquette, and it designates her as Rama’s representative in caring for his aging, grief-stricken father, ensuring the family hierarchy remains respected.

राम सीता की दिनचर्या (daily routine) तय कर रहे हैं। वनवास देने वाले पिता के प्रति कोई भी कड़वाहट रखने के बजाय, राम चाहते हैं कि सीता नित्य दशरथ की चरण-वंदना करें। यह राम की महानता है कि वे उस पिता के सम्मान ('नर ईश्वरः' - नरों के स्वामी) को अक्षुण्ण रखना चाहते हैं जिसने उन्हें निकाला है। वे सीता को यह दायित्व सौंप रहे हैं कि उनकी (राम की) अनुपस्थिति में वे एक आदर्श पुत्रवधू का धर्म निभाएं, ताकि दशरथ को पुत्र-वियोग का दुख कम हो।
