अथ सीता समुत्पत्य वेपमाना च तम् पतिम् ।
अपश्यत् शोक सम्तप्तम् चिन्ता व्याकुलिल इन्द्रियम् ॥२-२६-६॥
Atha sītā samutpatya vepamānā ca tam patim |
Apaśyat śokasantaptam cintāvyākulitendriyam ॥2-26-6॥
Translation
Then Sita, trembling, sprang up and saw her husband tormented by grief, his senses agitated by anxiety.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब सीता ने (राम को देखते ही) कंपित होकर उठ खड़ी हुईं और अपनेपति को शोक से संतप्त तथा चिंता से व्याकुल इंद्रियों वाला देखा।
English Commentary
Sita’s reaction is immediate and visceral. As soon as she sees Rama, she stands up 'vepamānā' (trembling). This physical reaction indicates an intuitive realization that something is terribly wrong. She observes that Rama, usually the epitome of composure, is 'śokasantaptam' (scorched by grief) and his senses are agitated by anxiety. Sita does not need to be told that the coronation is cancelled; she reads it in his demeanor. This verse highlights the deep bond between them—she mirrors his distress instantly, transitioning from the happy anticipation of Verse 4 to sudden dread.

सीता का प्रेम और उनका सूक्ष्म निरीक्षण यहाँ स्पष्ट होता है। राम को देखते ही वह 'वेपमाना' (कांपने लगीं)। यह कंपन किसी भय से नहीं, बल्कि अनिष्ट की आशंका (premonition) से है। राम का चेहरा देखते ही वह समझ गईं कि कुछ बहुत गलत हुआ है। राम की स्थिति 'शोक सम्तप्तम्' (दुख से जलते हुए) और 'चिन्ता व्याकुलिल इन्द्रियम्' (चिंता से जिनकी इंद्रियां अस्थिर हो गई हैं) के रूप में वर्णित है। राम जो सदैव गंभीर और स्थिर होते हैं, उनकी ऐसी दशा देखकर सीता का विचलित होना स्वाभाविक है। यह पति-पत्नी के बीच के गहरे आत्मिक संबंध को दर्शाता है जहाँ शब्द बोलने से पहले ही भावनाएं पहुँच जाती हैं।
