Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इच्छामि सरितः शैलान् पल्वलानि वनानि च ।
द्रष्टुम् सर्वत्र निर्भीता त्वया नाथेन धीमता ॥२-२७-१६॥
icchāmi saritaḥ śailān palvalāni vanāni ca । draṣṭum sarvatra nirbhītā tvayā nāthena dhīmatā ॥2-27-16॥
Translation
I wish to see the rivers, mountains, ponds, and forests. With you, the wise one, as my protector, I will be fearless everywhere.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे बुद्धिमान स्वामी! मैं आपके साथ नदियों, पर्वतों, सरोवरों और वनों को देखना चाहती हूँ। जब आप मेरे नाथ (रक्षक) साथ होंगे, तो मुझे कहीं भी किसी प्रकार का भय नहीं होगा।
English Commentary
Sita tactfully reframes the terrified vision of the forest Rama painted earlier. Instead of focusing on dangers, she speaks of the scenic beauty—rivers, mountains, and palvalani (small ponds). She expresses a childlike curiosity to see these sights, effectively turning the exile into a pilgrimage or adventure. The key to this fearless attitude is tvaya nathena (with you as my protector). She implies that fear cannot exist where Rama is present. By calling him dhimata (wise/sensible), she suggests that his wisdom is shield enough against any wild peril, thereby disarming his argument about her safety.

सीता जी वनवास के डरावने स्वरूप को 'पर्यटन' (sightseeing) के उत्साह में बदल देती हैं। जहाँ राम ने वन को खतरों (शेर, राक्षस) का स्थान बताया था, सीता उसे प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य (नदी, पर्वत, सरोवर) के रूप में देख रही हैं। यह उनका सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोण है। 'त्वया नाथेन' (आप जैसे स्वामी के साथ) वाक्यांश उनकी निर्भीकता का कारण है। वह जानती हैं कि राम 'धीमत' (बुद्धिमान/विवेकी) और समर्थ हैं, इसलिए डर का प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता। वह राम को यह विश्वास दिला रही हैं कि उनके साथ होने पर वन भी उपवन (garden) जैसा प्रतीत होगा। यह राम के पौरुष पर उनका अटूट विश्वास है।
