हंस कारण्डव आकीर्णाः पद्मिनीः साधु पुष्पिताः ।
इच्छेयम् सुखिनी द्रष्टुम् त्वया वीरेण संगता ॥२-२७-१७॥
hamsa kāraṇḍava ākīrṇāḥ padminīḥ sādhu puṣpitāḥ । iccheyam sukhinī draṣṭum tvayā vīreṇa saṃgatā ॥2-27-17॥
Translation
Accompanied by you, O Hero, I wish to happily behold the lotus ponds in full bloom, filled with swans and waterfowl.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं आपके साथ रहकर, हंसों और बत्तखों (जलपक्षियों) से भरी हुई तथा सुंदर खिले हुए कमलों वाली पद्मिनी (कमलिनियों/सरोवरों) को सुखपूर्वक देखना चाहती हूँ।
English Commentary
Continuing her romanticization of the exile, Sita paints a serene picture of nature. She speaks of blooming lotus ponds teeming with swans (hamsa) and ducks (karandava). This imagery evokes peace and beauty, starkly contrasting the harsh reality of the Dandaka forest. Her desire is to see these sights sukhinī (happily) while being samgata (united/accompanied) by him. Addressing him as Vira (hero), she reinforces that his valor ensures her safety, allowing her to focus on the beauty around them. She is subtly telling him that her happiness lies in his company, regardless of the setting.

सीता जी अपने पिछले तर्क को और विस्तार देती हैं। वह वन के सौंदर्य का इतना सूक्ष्म वर्णन करती हैं मानो वह कोई भयानक जंगल न होकर कोई रमणीय वाटिका हो। हंस और कारण्डव (एक प्रकार का जलपक्षी) शांति और प्रेम के प्रतीक हैं। सीता यह जताना चाहती हैं कि राम के सानिध्य में उनका मन प्रसन्न रहेगा ('सुखिनी')। वह राम को 'वीर' कहकर संबोधित करती हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि एक वीर के साथ रहते हुए डर कैसा? सीता का यह प्रयास राम के मन से ग्लानि (guilt) हटाने के लिए है; वह उन्हें यह महसूस कराना चाहती हैं कि वन जाना सीता की अपनी इच्छा और खुशी है, न कि कोई विवशता।
