Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रसादितः च वै पूर्वम् त्वम् वै बहु विधम् प्रभो ।
गमनम् वन वासस्य कान्क्षितम् हि सह त्वया ॥ ॥२-२९-१४॥
Prasāditaḥ ca vai pūrvam tvam vai bahu vidham prabho । Gamanam vana vāsasya kānkṣitam hi saha tvayā ॥ ॥2-29-14॥
Translation
O Lord! I had indeed requested you many times before (to visit the forests). I have always cherished the desire to go to the forest with you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे प्रभो! मैंने आपसे पहले भी कई बार (वन-विहार के लिए) प्रार्थना की थी। आपके साथ वन जाने की मेरी अभिलाषा तो पहले से ही थी।
English Commentary
Sita cleverly reframes the exile. She reminds Rama that she had previously solicited (prasaditaḥ) him to take her to visit the forest hermitages purely out of interest. By recalling this prior wish, she argues that the exile is actually an opportunity to fulfill her long-standing desire (kankshitam) to explore the woodlands with him. She transforms the banishment into a pilgrimage she had already asked for, thereby stripping away the aspect of 'suffering' that Rama is so worried about.

सीता जी यहाँ एक चतुर संदर्भ देती हैं। वनवास की घोषणा से पहले, उन्होंने राम से तपोवनों में घूमने की इच्छा व्यक्त की थी (जो रामचरितमानस और अन्य प्रसंगों में भी आता है)। वे राम को याद दिलाती हैं कि यह वनवास उनकी उस अधूरी इच्छा को पूरा करने का अवसर है। 'प्रभो' शब्द का प्रयोग करके वे राम के स्वामित्व को स्वीकारती हैं, लेकिन साथ ही 'कान्क्षितम्' (इच्छा) शब्द से यह जताती हैं कि वन जाना उनके लिए दंड नहीं, बल्कि एक मनोरथ की पूर्ति है।
