त्वया च सह गन्तव्यम् मया गुरु जन आज्ञया ।
त्वद् वियोगेन मे राम त्यक्तव्यम् इह जीवितम् ॥ ॥२-२९-५॥
Tvayā ca saha gantavyam mayā guru jana ājñayā । Tvad viyogena me rāma tyaktavyam iha jīvitam ॥ ॥2-29-5॥
Translation
I must go with you, in accordance with the command of the elders. O Rama, separated from you, I would have to give up my life right here.

गुरुजनों (बड़ों) की आज्ञा के अनुसार मुझे आपके साथ ही जाना चाहिए। हे राम! आपसे बिछड़कर तो मुझे यहीं अपने प्राण त्यागने पड़ेंगे।
English Commentary
Sita invokes moral authority (guru jana ājñayā). This refers to the instructions given during their wedding and by scriptures that a wife's place is with her husband. She frames her accompanying him not as a choice, but as a duty she must fulfill. She juxtaposes this with a grim ultimatum: tvad viyogena... tyaktavyam iha jīvitam. Staying back means death due to separation. She confronts Rama with a stark reality: he can take her to the forest and keep her alive, or leave her behind and be responsible for her death.

अब सीता धर्म और कर्तव्य का सहारा लेती हैं। 'गुरु जन आज्ञा' का संदर्भ विवाह के समय दी गई उस सीख से है कि पत्नी को छाया की तरह पति के साथ रहना चाहिए। यह केवल उनकी इच्छा नहीं, बल्कि बड़ों का आदेश है। दूसरी पंक्ति में वे अंतिम चेतावनी देती हैं—'त्यक्तव्यम् इह जीवितम्'। वे स्पष्ट करती हैं कि वन में मरने की संभावना है (जैसा राम ने कहा), लेकिन अयोध्या में राम के बिना रहने पर मृत्यु निश्चित है। अनिश्चित मृत्यु (वन में) और निश्चित मृत्यु (अयोध्या में) के बीच, वे राम के साथ वाले विकल्प को चुनती हैं।
