अथ च अपि महा प्राज्ञ ब्राह्मणानाम् मया श्रुतम् ।
पुरा पितृ गृहे सत्यम् वस्तव्यम् किल मे वने ॥ ॥२-२९-८॥
Atha ca api mahā prājña brāhmaṇānām mayā śrutam । Purā pitṛ gṛhe satyam vastavyam kila me vane ॥ ॥2-29-8॥
Translation
Moreover, O wise one, I heard from the Brahmins long ago in my father's house that I am indeed destined to live in the forest.

इसके अलावा, हे महाप्राज्ञ! मैंने पहले अपने पिता के घर में ब्राह्मणों (ज्योतिषियों) से सुना था कि मुझे वन में निवास करना ही पड़ेगा। यह सत्य है।
English Commentary
Sita shifts from emotional appeals to the irrefutable argument of destiny. Addressing Rama as Mahā Prājña (O great wise one), she reveals a prophecy she heard in her childhood at Janaka's palace. Brahmins had predicted her forest exile (vastavyam kila me vane). By invoking fate, she argues that her accompanying him is unavoidable. It frames the exile not as a tragedy befalling Rama alone, but as a joint destiny that they must fulfill together.

अब सीता नियति (भाग्य) का तर्क देती हैं। वे 'महाप्राज्ञ' (अत्यंत बुद्धिमान) शब्द का प्रयोग करती हैं, यह संकेत करने के लिए कि राम भाग्य के विधान को समझते हैं। वे बताती हैं कि उनके मायके में ज्योतिषियों ने भविष्यवाणी की थी कि उनके भाग्य में वनवास लिखा है। 'सत्यम् वस्तव्यम्'—अर्थात् यह होना ही है। सीता यह सिद्ध कर रही हैं कि उनका वन जाना केवल उनकी जिद्द या राम का दुर्भाग्य नहीं है, बल्कि यह एक पूर्व-निर्धारित प्रारब्ध है जिसे टाला नहीं जा सकता।
