Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यथोक्तवचनं प्रीतौ हर्षयुक्तौ द्विजर्षभौ ।
ततः सुमन्त्रं द्युतिमान् राजा वचनमब्रवीत् ॥२-३-२२॥
yathoktavacanaṃ prītau harṣayuktau dvijarṣabhau।tataḥ sumantraṃ dyutimān rājā vacanamabravīt ॥2-3-22॥
Translation
Having heard their appropriate counsel, the two best of Brahmins (Vasishtha and Vamadeva) became pleased and filled with joy. Thereafter, the illustrious King (Dasharatha) spoke these words to Sumantra.

उनके (वसिष्ठ और वामदेव के) यथोक्त वचन सुनकर, दोनों श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण (वसिष्ठ और वामदेव) प्रसन्न और आनंदित हुए। तब द्युतिमान् राजा (दशरथ) ने सुमन्त्र से यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This verse is part of the third Sarga of Ayodhya Kanda in the Valmiki Ramayana, describing the moments after King Dasharatha announced his decision to anoint Shri Rama as the Crown Prince to his ministers and preceptors. Earlier, the venerable Brahmins, including the preceptors Vasishtha and Vamadeva, had approved and supported the King's decision. This specific verse states that upon hearing the appropriate counsel (words of truth and suitability) that was in accordance with the King's decision, Vasishtha and Vamadeva themselves became pleased and filled with joy. Following their joyful approval, the illustrious King Dasharatha then addressed his highly trusted minister, Sumantra, to speak certain words. This sequence of events shows that King Dasharatha had secured the complete support and blessings of his preceptors and ministers before proceeding with this monumental decision. It also underscores King Dasharatha's adherence to propriety and his respect for his elders and spiritual guides.
