तस्मात्त्वं पुष्ययोगेन यौवराज्यमवाप्नुहि ।
कामतस्त्वं प्रकृत्यैव विनीतो गुणवानसि ॥२-३-४१॥
tasmāttvaṃ puṣyayogena yauvarājyamavāpnuhi |
kāmatastvaṃ prakṛtyaiva vinīto guṇavānasi ॥2-3-41॥
Translation
"...Therefore, accept the position of Crown Prince during the conjunction of the Pushya star. Although you are by nature modest and virtuous..."

"...इसलिए पुष्य नक्षत्र के योग में तुम युवराज का पद ग्रहण करो। यद्यपि तुम स्वभाव से ही विनीत और गुणवान हो (तथापि मैं तुम्हें कुछ हितकारी बातें बताऊंगा)।
English Commentary
This is the operative verse where the command is finally given: "Accept the Crown Prince position." The timing is set for Pushyayoga—an astrological alignment considered extremely auspicious for nourishment and stability (associated with the star Pushya). Dasharatha acknowledges Rama's inherent nature (prakrtyaiva) is humble (vinita) and virtuous, implying he doesn't need correction. However, the King prepares to offer counsel in the following verses out of affection and duty. This verse crystallizes the King's intent, setting the stage for the tragic turn of events, as the urgency of using the upcoming Pushya star becomes a pivotal plot point.

यह वह निर्णायक क्षण है जब दशरथ आदेश देते हैं - 'यौवराज्यमवाप्नुहि' (युवराज पद प्राप्त करो)। उन्होंने मुहूर्त भी निश्चित कर दिया है - 'पुष्ययोग' (जब चंद्रमा पुष्य नक्षत्र में हो), जो अत्यंत शुभ माना जाता है। दशरथ जानते हैं कि राम स्वभाव से 'विनीत' हैं और उन्हें उपदेश की आवश्यकता नहीं है, फिर भी 'कामतः' (स्नेहवश) और पिता होने के अधिकार से वे उन्हें राजधर्म की शिक्षा देना चाहते हैं। यह श्लोक राज्याभिषेक की औपचारिक घोषणा है। यहाँ से रामायण की कथा में एक नया मोड़ आता है, क्योंकि यही घोषणा कैकेयी के षड्यंत्र का आधार बनती है।
