न च तत्र गतः किम्चित् द्रष्टुम् अर्हसि विप्रियम् ।
मत् कृते न च ते शोको न भविष्यामि दुर्भरा ॥ ॥२-३०-१७॥
Na ca tatra gataḥ kimcit draṣṭum arhasi vipriyam । Mat kṛte na ca te śoko na bhaviṣyāmi durbharā ॥ ॥2-30-17॥
Translation
You will not witness anything unpleasant there on my account; you will feel no grief for my sake, nor will I be a burden to you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहाँ जाकर आपको मेरी ओर से कुछ भी अप्रिय नहीं देखना पड़ेगा। मेरे कारण आपको कोई शोक नहीं होगा और न ही मैं आपके लिए बोझ बनूँगी।
English Commentary
Sita directly addresses the practical anxiety Rama has about taking her: that she will be high-maintenance or a liability. She promises not to be durbhara (difficult to sustain/burden). She assures him that her behavior will not cause him any vipriyam (unpleasantness) or shoka (grief). She is essentially promising to be low-maintenance and self-sufficient to the extent possible, invalidating his protective excuse that she is too delicate for the wild.

राम का मुख्य तर्क यह था कि सीता की रक्षा और देखभाल वन में कठिन होगी। सीता इस तर्क को काटती हैं। वे प्रतिज्ञा करती हैं कि वे 'दुर्भरा' (जिसका भरण-पोषण या वहन करना कठिन हो) नहीं बनेंगी। वे राम को कष्ट देने वाला कोई आचरण नहीं करेंगी। वे एक समस्या नहीं, बल्कि एक सहयोगी बनकर साथ जाना चाहती हैं। यह एक पत्नी का अपने पति को दिया गया आश्वासन है कि वह उसकी शक्ति बनेगी, दुर्बलता नहीं।
