इदम् हि सहितुम् शोकम् मुहूर्तम् अपि न उत्सहे ।
किम् पुनर् दश वर्षाणि त्रीणि च एकम् च दुह्खिता ॥ ॥२-३०-२१॥
Idam hi sahitum śokam muhūrtam api na utsahe । Kim punar daśa varṣāṇi trīṇi ca ekam ca duhkhitā ॥ ॥2-30-21॥
Translation
I cannot endure this sorrow of separation even for a moment; how then could I, in my misery, endure ten, three, and one (fourteen) years?

मैं इस वियोग के शोक को एक मुहूर्त (48 मिनट/क्षण भर) के लिए भी सहने का साहस नहीं जुटा पा रही हूँ, फिर दुःखियारी होकर चौदह वर्षों (दस, तीन और एक) तक कैसे रहूँगी?
English Commentary
Sita breaks down the sentence of exile mathematically (10+3+1 years) to emphasize its length, contrasting it with a muhurta (a brief moment, approx 48 mins). She confesses she lacks the utsaha (enthusiasm/strength) to bear even a moment's separation. By juxtaposing the micro (moment) with the macro (14 years), she highlights the sheer impossibility of the demand Rama is making on her endurance.

यहाँ सीता जी समय की गणना करती हैं—दश, तीन और एक (14 वर्ष)। वे कहती हैं कि 'मुहूर्त' भर का वियोग भी उनके लिए असहनीय है। 14 वर्ष तो एक युग के समान हैं। प्रेमी हृदय के लिए प्रिय के बिना समय काटना सबसे कठिन परीक्षा होती है। वे अपनी असमर्थता व्यक्त करती हैं कि वे इतना लंबा समय जीवित नहीं रह सकतीं।
