तस्याः स्फटिक सम्काशम् वारि सम्ताप सम्भवम् ।
नेत्राभ्याम् परिसुस्राव पन्कजाभ्याम् इव उदकम् ॥ ॥२-३०-२४॥
Tasyāḥ sphaṭika samkāśam vāri samtāpa sambhavam । Netrābhyām parisusrāva pankajābhyām iva udakam ॥ ॥2-30-24॥
Translation
Crystal-clear water born of torment flowed from her lotus-like eyes, just as water slips off from lotuses.
हिंदी अनुवाद
संताप से उत्पन्न, स्फटिक मणि के समान निर्मल जल (आंसू), उनके नेत्रों से वैसे ही बहने लगा जैसे कमलों से पानी झरता है।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes Sita's weeping with aesthetic purity. Even in extreme distress, her tears are clear like sphatika (crystal/quartz), emphasizing the purity of her emotion. Her eyes are compared to lotuses (pankaja). The imagery suggests that just as water does not cling to a lotus leaf but slips off, these tears are flowing uncontrollably. It portrays her sorrow as profound yet graceful.

वाल्मीकि जी सीता के आंसुओं का वर्णन अत्यंत पवित्रता के साथ करते हैं। यद्यपि वे 'संताप' (दुःख) से उत्पन्न हुए हैं, फिर भी वे 'स्फटिक सम्काशम्' (स्फटिक मणि जैसे स्वच्छ) हैं। सीता के नेत्र 'पंकज' (कमल) के समान हैं। यह दृश्य करुण होते हुए भी सौंदर्यबोध से युक्त है। सीता का रोना भी उनकी शुद्धता और कोमलता को ही प्रकट करता है।
