Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तव एव तेजसा वीर भरतः पूजयिष्यति ।
कौसल्याम् च सुमित्राम् च प्रयतः न अत्र सम्शयः ॥ ॥२-३१-१९॥
tava eva tejasā vīra bharataḥ pūjayiṣyati |
kausalyām ca sumitrām ca prayataḥ na atra samśayaḥ ॥2-31-19॥
Translation
O Hero! Influenced by your very brilliance (moral power), Bharata will diligently honor Kausalya and Sumitra; there is no doubt in this.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वीर! आपके ही तेज (प्रभाव) से भरत कौशल्या और सुमित्रा की यत्नपूर्वक पूजा (सम्मान) करेंगे, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।
English Commentary
Lakshmana counters Rama's fear regarding Bharata's behavior (stated in Verse 14). He argues that Rama’s Tejas (spiritual luster/moral power) is so formidable that it acts as a safeguard even in his absence. Lakshmana asserts that Bharata will treat the mothers with respect (pūjayiṣyati) not necessarily out of love, but out of the sheer awe and respect he holds for Rama. Lakshmana is essentially saying, "Brother, you underestimate your own shadow." He claims there is "no doubt" that Rama's moral footprint is enough to keep Bharata in check, thus negating the need for Lakshmana to stay as a guard.

लक्ष्मण राम के इस भय का खंडन करते हैं कि भरत माताओं का अनादर करेंगे। लक्ष्मण का कहना है कि राम का 'तेज' (नैतिक प्रभाव) इतना प्रबल है कि भरत, भले ही राजा बन जाएं, राम के भय और सम्मान के कारण माताओं को कष्ट देने का साहस नहीं करेंगे। यहाँ लक्ष्मण भरत के चरित्र पर भी विश्वास जता रहे हैं (भले ही वे कैकेयी से घृणा करते हों)। लक्ष्मण राम को याद दिला रहे हैं कि आप केवल एक वनवासी नहीं, बल्कि एक ऐसी शक्ति हैं जिसका अदृश्य शासन (Moral Authority) अयोध्या पर बना रहेगा। 'न अत्र सम्शयः'—लक्ष्मण को इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है।
