आहरिष्यामि ते नित्यम् मूलानि च फलानि च ।
वन्यानि यानि च अन्यानि स्वाहाराणि तपस्विनाम् ॥ ॥२-३१-२४॥
āhariṣyāmi te nityam mūlāni ca phalāni ca |
vanyāni yāni ca anyāni svāhārāṇi tapasvinām ॥2-31-24॥
Translation
I will daily fetch for you roots, fruits, and whatever other forest produce is worthy food for ascetics.

मैं आपके लिए प्रतिदिन कन्द, मूल और फल तथा जो भी अन्य वन की वस्तुएं तपस्वियों के खाने योग्य होंगी, उन्हें ले आऊँगा।
English Commentary
Focusing on logistics, Lakshmana promises to secure the food supply. Foraging is time-consuming and difficult; Lakshmana volunteers to take this burden entirely upon himself. He promises to fetch roots and fruits daily (nityam). He specifies that the food will be svāhārāṇi tapasvinām—worthy of ascetics, indicating he respects the vow of austerity Rama has taken. He is assuring Rama that his spiritual routine will not be disturbed by the mundane necessity of finding food. Lakshmana frames his company as a means to ensure Rama's vow is kept effortlessly.

लक्ष्मण भोजन की व्यवस्था की जिम्मेदारी लेते हैं। वन में भोजन जुटाना एक कठिन कार्य है। लक्ष्मण कहते हैं, 'आहरिष्यामि' (मैं लाऊँगा), ताकि राम को अपनी तपस्या और सीता को अपनी सुविधा से समझौता न करना पड़े। वे 'नित्यम्' (प्रतिदिन) यह कार्य करेंगे। वे केवल वही लाएंगे जो 'तपस्विनाम्' (तपस्वियों के योग्य) है, यानी वे वनवास के नियमों का पूरी तरह पालन करेंगे। लक्ष्मण राम को आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं कि वन में रहते हुए भी राम को गृहस्थ की तरह भोजन की चिंता नहीं करनी पड़ेगी; लक्ष्मण उनके लिए अन्नदाता (provider) बनेंगे।
