ये च राज्ञो ददौ दिव्ये महात्मा वरुणः स्वयम् ।
जनकस्य महा यज्ञे धनुषी रौद्र दर्शने ॥ ॥२-३१-२७॥
Ye ca rājño dadau divye mahātmā Varuṇaḥ svayam । Janakasya mahā yajñe dhanuṣī raudra darśane ॥ ॥2-31-27॥
Translation
(Rama continues) "Those two divine bows, terrible to behold, which the great soul Varuna himself gave to King Janaka at his great sacrifice..."

(राम कहते हैं) "महात्मा वरुण ने जनक के महायज्ञ में राजा (जनक) को जो दो दिव्य और भयानक दिखने वाले धनुष स्वयं दिए थे..."
English Commentary
This verse establishes the pedigree of the weapons Rama intends to carry. These are not ordinary bows but divine artifacts gifted by the water god, Varuna, to King Janaka. The phrase 'raudra darshane' (terrible to behold) implies their immense power and capability for destruction. This foresight indicates that Rama is preparing for the forest not merely as a recluse, but as a Kshatriya (warrior) who anticipates the need to protect himself, his wife, and the sages from dangers lurking in the wild.

यह श्लोक उन आयुधों की पृष्ठभूमि बताता है जिन्हें राम वन ले जाना चाहते हैं। ये साधारण धनुष नहीं हैं; इनका स्रोत दैवीय है (वरुण देव)। ये धनुष राजा जनक के पास थे और विवाह के समय राम और लक्ष्मण को मिले थे। 'रौद्र दर्शने' का अर्थ है कि वे देखने में ही भयंकर या शक्तिशाली लगते हैं। राम वन को केवल तपस्या के स्थान के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक ऐसे स्थान के रूप में देख रहे हैं जहाँ उन्हें अपनी और ऋषियों की रक्षा करनी होगी, जिसके लिए दिव्य शस्त्र आवश्यक हैं।
