Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अहम् प्रदातुम् इच्चामि यद् इदम् मामकम् धनम् ।
ब्राह्मणेभ्यः तपस्विभ्यः त्वया सह परम्तप ॥ ॥२-३१-३३॥
Aham pradātum icchāmi yad idam māmakam dhanam । Brāhmaṇebhyaḥ tapasvibhyaḥ tvayā saha paramtapa ॥ ॥2-31-33॥
Translation
"I wish to give away whatever wealth is mine to the Brahmins and ascetics, along with you, O scorcher of foes."

"हे परंतप! मैं चाहता हूँ कि मेरा जो भी यह धन है, उसे मैं तुम्हारे साथ मिलकर ब्राह्मणों और तपस्वियों को दान कर दूँ।"
English Commentary
The phrase 'tvaya saha' (along with you) is pivotal. It signifies Rama's complete integration of Lakshmana into his plans. By involving Lakshmana in the act of charity, Rama elevates him from a follower to a partner in Dharma. Giving away wealth is the practical step of detachment required before adopting the ascetic life. It ensures that no material ties bind them to Ayodhya, freeing them mentally for the hardships ahead.

राम 'त्वया सह' (तुम्हारे साथ) कहते हैं। यह महत्वपूर्ण है। पहले वे लक्ष्मण को ले जाने से मना कर रहे थे, लेकिन अब वे लक्ष्मण को अपने हर कार्य में भागीदार बना रहे हैं। वन जाने से पहले 'सर्वस्व दान' करना संन्यास या वानप्रस्थ धर्म का अंग है। भौतिक वस्तुओं से मोह त्यागने की यह अंतिम क्रिया है। 'परंतप' (शत्रुओं को तपाने वाले) संबोधन लक्ष्मण के क्षत्रिय धर्म को याद दिलाता है, भले ही कार्य दान का हो।
