मया समेतोऽरण्यानि बहूनि विचरिष्यसि ।
पक्षिभिर्मृगयूथैश्च सम्घुष्टानि समन्ततः ॥ ॥२-३१-४॥
mayā sameto'raṇyāni bahūni vicariṣyasi |
pakṣibhirmṛgayūthaiśca samghuṣṭāni samantataḥ ॥2-31-4॥
Translation
Accompanied by me, you shall roam through many forests that resonate on all sides with the sounds of birds and herds of animals.

मेरे साथ रहते हुए आप उन अनेक वनों में विचरण करेंगे, जो चारों ओर से पक्षियों और पशुओं के समूहों के कोलाहल से गूंजते रहते हैं।
English Commentary
Lakshmana attempts to reframe the concept of the forest exile. Rather than focusing on the dangers, he paints a picture of wandering through nature amidst the sounds of birds and animals. By saying "accompanied by me," Lakshmana implies that his presence will mitigate the hardships of the wilderness. He is essentially telling Rama that with a devoted brother by his side, the terrifying forest will transform into a place of exploration and simple living. It is an appeal to Rama's heart, suggesting that companionship can turn a punishment into a manageable journey. Lakshmana is pleading that his company is essential for Rama's peace of mind in the isolation of the woods.
