Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तम् परिष्वज्य धर्मात्मा आतस्मात्सरयूतटात् ।
आनयामास ता गोपैस्त्रिजटायाश्रमम् प्रति ॥२-३२-३८॥
tam pariṣvajya dharmātmā ā tasmāt sarayū taṭāt |
ānayāmāsa tā gopais trijaṭāya āśramam prati ॥2-32-38॥
Translation
Embracing him, the righteous Soul (Rama) caused those cows extending up to the banks of the Sarayu to be driven by cowherds towards Trijata's hermitage.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब धर्मात्मा (राम) ने उस (त्रिजट) को गले लगा लिया और सरयू के तट तक की उन (सारी) गायों को ग्वालों के द्वारा त्रिजट के आश्रम भिजवा दिया।
English Commentary
Rama's reaction is pure grace. Instead of begrudging the Brahmin the massive haul, he embraces him ("parishvajya"). This hug bridges the gap between the Prince and the pauper, acknowledging the Brahmin's effort and spirit. Being "Dharmatma" (Righteous Soul), Rama honors his word immediately. He orders the cowherds to drive the entire herd—up to the river bank where the stick landed—to Trijata's home. In one stroke, Rama transforms Trijata's life from abject poverty to immense wealth, demonstrating that his charity is not just duty, but a joyful sharing of abundance.

राम की प्रतिक्रिया अत्यंत हृदयस्पर्शी है। वे त्रिजट के लोभ या अधिक प्राप्ति पर रुष्ट नहीं होते, बल्कि उसे "परिष्वज्य" (गले लगाकर) सम्मानित करते हैं। यह राम की खेल-भावना और वचनबद्धता को दर्शाता है। राम "धर्मात्मा" हैं, वे अपनी शर्त से पीछे नहीं हटते। उन्होंने तुरंत ग्वालों (गोपैः) को आदेश दिया कि जीती गई हजारों गायें त्रिजट के आश्रम तक पहुंचा दी जाएं। एक ही पल में त्रिजट 'दरिद्र' से 'लखपति' (गोधन के स्वामी) बन गए। यह प्रसंग राम के वनवास से पूर्व अंतिम आनंदमय और संतोषजनक कार्यों में से एक है।
