अङ्गदानि विचित्राणि केयूराणि शुभानि च ।
पर्यन्कम् अग्र्य आस्तरणम् नाना रत्न विभूषितम् ॥२-३२-८॥
aṅgadāni vicitrāṇi keyūrāṇi śubhāni ca |
paryankam agrya āstaraṇam nānā ratna vibhūṣitam ॥2-32-8॥
Translation
"(Sita also wishes to give) wonderful armlets, beautiful epaulets, and a bed adorned with various gems and equipped with excellent bedding."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(सीता) विचित्र (कारीगरी वाले) बाजूबन्द, सुंदर केयूर और नाना प्रकार के रत्नों से विभूषित तथा उत्तम बिछौने से युक्त पलंग (भी देना चाहती हैं)।
English Commentary
The verse describes intricate jewelry ("Vichitrani"), but the focal point is the "Paryankam" (bed). This is no ordinary bed; it is encrusted with gems and furnished with the finest bedding ("Agrya astaranam"). The bed symbolizes domestic comfort, rest, and marital bliss. By gifting this, Sita and Rama are symbolically renouncing the comforts of palace life. They are aware that the forest floor awaits them. Giving away their personal bed to a Brahmin signifies a complete break from their royal lifestyle and a willingness to embrace hardship while ensuring their comforts are passed to a worthy recipient.

इस श्लोक में "विचित्राणि" शब्द आभूषणों की अद्भुत कारीगरी को दर्शाता है। परंतु यहाँ सबसे महत्वपूर्ण दान "पर्यंक" (पलंग) है। यह पलंग "अग्र्य आस्तरणम्" (श्रेष्ठ बिछौने) और रत्नों से युक्त है। यह शैया सुख और गृहस्थ जीवन के आराम का प्रतीक है। सीता और राम अब वनों में भूमि पर या पत्तों की शैया पर सोने वाले हैं। अपनी सुख-शैया का दान करना यह दर्शाता है कि वे अब शारीरिक सुख-सुविधाओं का मोह पूरी तरह त्याग चुके हैं। वे अपने महल के सबसे निजी और आरामदायक वस्तुओं को सुयज्ञ को सौंप रहे हैं ताकि वे उनका उपभोग कर सकें।
