सो अन्तः पुरम् अतीत्य एव स्त्रियः ता वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ।
आर्यो ह्वयति वो राजा गम्यताम् तत्र माचिरम् ॥ ॥२-३४-११॥
So antaḥ puram atītya eva striyaḥ tā vākyam abravīt |
Āryo hvayati vo rājā gamyatām tatra māciram ॥2-34-11॥
Translation
He (Sumantra) entered the inner chambers and spoke these words to those women: "The noble King calls for you. Go there immediately; do not delay."
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह (सुमन्त्र) रनिवास (अन्तःपुर) में जाकर उन स्त्रियों से यह वचन बोले— "आर्य महाराज आप लोगों को बुला रहे हैं, वहां शीघ्र जाइये, विलंब मत कीजिये।"
English Commentary
Sumantra acts immediately on the King's order, entering the antaḥ puram (inner apartments/harem). His message is concise and urgent: gamyatām tatra māciram (go there, do not delay). The use of Ārya to refer to the King maintains the formal decorum even within the domestic quarters.
The instruction "do not delay" adds to the tension. Everyone knows why they are being summoned. Sumantra is gathering the audience for the heartbreaking finale of the Ayodhya Kanda's first act. By bringing the women, the private grief of the King is about to be amplified into the collective wailing of the entire household, setting the stage for the emotional climax of Rama's departure.

सुमन्त्र का यह कार्य उनकी तत्परता और आज्ञापालन को दर्शाता है। 'अन्तः पुरम् अतीत्य' (अन्तःपुर में प्रवेश करके) वे रानियों को संदेश देते हैं। वे राजा को 'आर्य' कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो सम्मानसूचक है।
'माचिरम्' (देर मत करो) शब्द में एक आग्रह है। सुमन्त्र जानते हैं कि समय कम है और राजा की अवस्था बिगड़ती जा रही है। राम द्वार पर खड़े हैं। यह श्लोक दृश्य को बदलता है—अब शोक केवल राजा के कक्ष तक सीमित नहीं रहेगा, बल्कि रनिवास की सैकड़ों स्त्रियों के विलाप के साथ मिलकर यह एक सामूहिक हाहाकार का रूप ले लेगा। सुमन्त्र यहाँ एक सूत्रधार की तरह हैं जो विभिन्न पात्रों को अंतिम दृश्य के लिए एक मंच पर ला रहे हैं।
