Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् उक्ताः स्त्रियः सर्वाः सुमन्त्रेण नृप आज्ञया ।
प्रचक्रमुस् तत् भवनम् भर्तुर् आज्ञाय शासनम् ॥ ॥२-३४-१२॥
Evam uktāḥ striyaḥ sarvāḥ sumantreṇa nṛpa ājñayā |
Pracakramus tat bhavanam bhartur ājñāya śāsanam ॥2-34-12॥
Translation
Addressed thus by Sumantra at the King's command, all those women, accepting their husband's order as law, proceeded toward that palace.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुमन्त्र द्वारा राजा की आज्ञा सुनाए जाने पर, उन सभी रानियों ने अपने पति (राजा) के आदेश को शिरोधार्य मानकर उस भवन (राजा के कक्ष) की ओर प्रस्थान किया।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the discipline within the royal household. Despite the impending heartbreak, the queens respect the protocol. The phrase bhartur ājñāya śāsanam (accepting the husband's command as a binding rule) highlights their adherence to duty. They do not hesitate or question why they are being summoned to witness such a tragedy. It sets the stage for a collective mourning. The movement of the women from the inner quarters to the King's chamber signifies the collapse of the barrier between private grief and public loss.

यह श्लोक रनिवास की स्त्रियों की पतिनिष्ठा और अनुशासन को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि वातावरण शोकपूर्ण है और वे जानती हैं कि उन्हें एक दुखद दृश्य देखने जाना है, फिर भी 'भर्तुर् आज्ञाय शासनम्' (पति की आज्ञा को शासन मानकर) वे तुरंत चल पड़ती हैं। रनिवास में सामान्यतः कोलाहल नहीं होता, लेकिन आज स्थिति भिन्न है। यह एक सामूहिक प्रस्थान है जो उस भवन की ओर हो रहा है जहाँ अयोध्या का भाग्य (राम) विदा ले रहा है। यह दृश्य एक त्रासदी की पूर्व-पीठिका जैसा है, जहाँ सभी पात्र मुख्य घटना के लिए एकत्रित हो रहे हैं।
