लक्ष्मणम् च अनुजानीहि सीता च अन्वेति माम् वनम् ।
कारणैः बहुभिस् तथ्यैः वार्यमाणौ न च इच्चतः ॥ ॥२-३४-२३॥
Lakṣmaṇam ca anujānīhi sītā ca anveti mām vanam |
Kāraṇaiḥ bahubhis tathyaiḥ vāryamāṇau na ca iccataḥ ॥2-34-23॥
Translation
"Please permit Lakshmana also, and Sita is following me to the forest. Though prevented by many factual reasons, they do not wish to desist (stay back)."

"लक्ष्मण को भी अनुमति दीजिये और सीता भी वन में मेरे पीछे आ रही है। बहुत से वास्तविक कारणों से रोके जाने पर भी ये दोनों रुकना नहीं चाहते।"
English Commentary
Rama seeks official sanction for his companions. He informs the King that Lakshmana and Sita are accompanying him. Crucially, he adds a disclaimer: vāryamāṇau (being prevented/dissuaded). Rama clarifies that he tried his best to stop them using tathyaiḥ (facts/logic), but they refused to stay. By saying this, Rama shifts the responsibility of their departure from himself to their own devotion, while simultaneously asking the King to validate their choice (anujānīhi - permit/sanction). He wants to ensure that Lakshmana and Sita leave with the King's blessing, legitimizing their sacrifice rather than making it seem like an impulsive act of disobedience.

राम अब अपने साथियों के लिए अनुमति मांगते हैं। वे राजा को सूचित करते हैं कि सीता और लक्ष्मण भी उनके साथ जा रहे हैं। राम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि यह उनकी (राम की) जिद नहीं है। उन्होंने 'कारणैः बहुभिस् तथ्यैः' (बहुत से तर्कपूर्ण कारणों से) उन्हें रोकने का प्रयास किया था ('वार्यमाणौ'), लेकिन वे नहीं माने ('न च इच्चतः')। राम यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं कि लक्ष्मण और सीता का वन जाना राजा की स्वीकृति से हो, न कि विद्रोह के रूप में। वे अपने भाई और पत्नी के त्याग को राजा के सामने रखते हैं ताकि राजा उन्हें भी आशीर्वाद दें। यह राम की पारदर्शिता और जिम्मेदारी को दर्शाता है—वे नेतृत्व कर रहे हैं, लेकिन सबको साथ लेकर चल रहे हैं।
