Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मातरं माम् च सम्पश्यन् वसेमामद्य शर्वरीम् ।
तर्पितः सर्वकामैस्त्वम् स्वः काले साधयिष्यसि ॥ ॥२-३४-३४॥
Mātaram māṃ ca sampaśyan vasemāmadya śarvarīm |
Tarpitaḥ sarvakāmaistvam svaḥ kāle sādhayiṣyasi ॥2-34-34॥
Translation
"Stay this one night, looking at your mother and me. Having been satisfied with all desirable comforts, you may proceed tomorrow at dawn."

"माता और मुझे देखते हुए आज की रात यहीं रहो। सब प्रकार के भोगों से तृप्त होकर, कल सबेरे तुम (वन के लिए) प्रस्थान करना।"
English Commentary
The repetition of the plea emphasizes the King's obsession with delaying the departure. He adds a new dimension: tarpitaḥ sarvakāmais (satisfied with all comforts). Dasaratha is painfully aware of the hardships awaiting Rama in the Dandaka forest. He wants to lavish his son with royal comforts—food, rest, luxury—one last time before he becomes an ascetic. It is a pathetic attempt to buffer the harsh reality. He grants permission to leave svaḥ kāle (tomorrow morning), hoping to steal a few more hours of proximity.

राजा अपनी बात दोहराते हैं (जो उनकी व्याकुलता दर्शाता है)। वे राम को 'तर्पितः सर्वकामैः' (सभी इच्छाओं/भोगों से तृप्त होकर) भेजना चाहते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि वन में राम को कठोर जीवन जीना होगा—भूमि पर सोना, कंदमूल खाना। इसलिए, एक पिता के रूप में, वे चाहते हैं कि राम एक आखिरी बार राजसी सुख, अच्छा भोजन और बिस्तर का आनंद ले लें। 'श्वः काले' (कल सुबह) चले जाना—यह राजा का समझौता है। वे राम को भूखा या प्यासा नहीं भेजना चाहते, वे उन्हें तृप्त करके विदा करना चाहते हैं।
