वनवासकृता बुद्धिर्न च मेऽद्य चलिष्यति ।
यस्तुष्टेन वरो दत्तः कैकेय्यै वरद त्वया ॥२-३४-४२॥
Vanavāsakṛtā buddhirna ca me'dya caliṣyati । Yastuṣṭena varo dattaḥ kaikeyyai varada tvayā ॥ ॥2-34-42॥
Translation
My resolve to reside in the forest shall not waver today. O Bestower of Boons! The boon that was given by you to Kaikeyi when you were pleased must be fulfilled.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वनवास के लिए किया गया मेरा निश्चय आज डगमगाएगा नहीं। हे वरद (वर देने वाले)! आपने प्रसन्न होकर कैकेयी को जो वर दिया था, उसे पूरा करें।
English Commentary
Rama addresses his father as Varada (Giver of Boons). This is significant; he is reminding Dasharatha of his identity and past generosity. If Dasharatha fails to honor the boon now, his integrity as a 'giver' is compromised. Rama asserts that his own mind (buddhi) is fixed on the forest and will not shake. He is effectively telling his father, 'I am strong enough to bear the forest; you must be strong enough to bear the truth.'

राम दशरथ को 'वरद' (वर देने वाला) कहकर सम्बोधित करते हैं। यह एक कटाक्ष नहीं, बल्कि स्मरण है कि 'देना' दशरथ का स्वभाव है। यदि वे अपना वचन पूरा नहीं करेंगे, तो 'वरद' की उपाधि व्यर्थ हो जाएगी। राम अपने पिता को यह शक्ति दे रहे हैं कि वे भावुकता छोड़कर अपने राजा होने के धर्म को निभाएं। राम का निश्चय (बुद्धि) अटल है; वे बाहरी परिस्थितियों या भावनाओं से विचलित होने वाले नहीं हैं।
