चतुर्दश समा वत्स्ये वने वनचरैः सह ।
मा विमर्शो वसुमती भरताय प्रदीयताम् ॥२-३४-४४॥
Caturdaśa samā vatsye vane vanacaraiḥ saha । Mā vimarśo vasumatī bharatāya pradīyatām ॥ ॥2-34-44॥
Translation
I shall live in the forest for fourteen years along with the forest dwellers. Do not grieve or hesitate; let the earth be given to Bharata.

मैं चौदह वर्ष वनवासियों (मुनियों और जानवरों) के साथ वन में निवास करूँगा। आप विचार (दुख/संकोच) न करें और पृथ्वी भरत को दे दें।
English Commentary
Rama reiterates the specific terms: fourteen years, living with forest dwellers (vanacharaih). This is a stark contrast to royal life, yet Rama presents it matter-of-factly. He uses the phrase ma vimarsho (do not deliberate/grieve) to cut through Dasharatha's hesitation. Rama is practically guiding his father's hand to sign the order, removing the paralysis caused by grief and ensuring the transition of power to Bharata happens smoothly for the sake of the kingdom's stability.

राम यहाँ वनवास की स्पष्ट तस्वीर खींचते हैं—वे महलों के सुख छोड़कर 'वनचरों' के साथ रहेंगे। यह दशरथ के लिए कष्टकारी सत्य है, फिर भी राम कहते हैं 'मा विमर्शो' (विमर्श या चिंता मत करो)। राम दशरथ के संकोच को तोड़ना चाहते हैं। वे बार-बार 'भरताय प्रदीयताम्' कह रहे हैं ताकि दशरथ को यह कदम उठाने में अपराध-बोध न हो। राम पिता के मानसिक बोझ को हल्का करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं।
