मा चोत्कण्थां कृथा देव वने रम्स्यामहे वयम् ।
प्रशान्तहरिणाकीर्णे नानाशकुनिनादिते ॥२-३४-५१॥
Mā cotkaṇṭhāṃ kṛthā deva vane raṃsyāmahe vayam । Praśāntahariṇākīrṇe nānāśakuninādite ॥ ॥2-34-51॥
Translation
O Lord! Do not be anxious. We shall delight in the forest, which is filled with gentle deer and resonates with the sounds of various birds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देव! आप उत्कंठा (चिंता/व्याकुलता) न करें। हम उस वन में आनंदपूर्वक रहेंगे जो शांत मृगों से भरा है और जहाँ नाना प्रकार के पक्षी कलरव करते हैं।
English Commentary
Rama gently reframes the exile to comfort his father. Instead of speaking of predators or hardships, he describes the forest as a sanctuary filled with peaceful deer and singing birds. He uses the verb ramsyamahe (we will rejoice/take delight), suggesting a spiritual retreat rather than a punishment. This is a compassionate lie or a perspective shift intended solely to ease the heavy burden on Dasharatha’s heart.

एक आदर्श पुत्र की भाँति राम वनवास की विभीषिका को छिपाकर उसके सौंदर्य का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। वे 'रम्स्यामहे' (रमण करेंगे/आनंद लेंगे) शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं, मानो वे किसी पिकनिक या वन-विहार पर जा रहे हों, न कि कठोर वनवास पर। वे पिता के मन में वन के प्रति भय को कम करना चाहते हैं ताकि दशरथ को यह न लगे कि उनका पुत्र कष्ट भोगेगा।
