Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पिता हि दैवतम् तात देवतानामपि स्मृतम् ।
तस्माद्दैवतमित्येव करिष्यामि पितुर्वचः ॥२-३४-५२॥
Pitā hi daivatam tāta devatānāmapi smṛtam । Tasmāddaivatamityeva kariṣyāmi piturvacaḥ ॥ ॥2-34-52॥
Translation
For the father is indeed the deity, considered the god of even the gods. Therefore, I shall fulfill my father's word, treating it as a divine duty.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे तात! पिता को देवताओं का भी देवता माना गया है। इसलिए, मैं इसे दैवकार्य (ईश्वर की सेवा) मानकर ही पिता के वचनों का पालन करूँगा।
English Commentary
This verse enshrines the core ethos of Pitru-Bhakti (devotion to the father). Rama elevates the father above celestial deities, stating that for a son, the father is the ultimate divinity (Daivatam). By framing his obedience as an act of worship towards this living god, Rama transcends the political nature of the exile. He is not a victim of politics; he is a devotee performing a sacred ritual of obedience.

यह श्लोक भारतीय संस्कृति में 'पितृ-भक्ति' का सर्वोच्च सिद्धांत है। राम कहते हैं कि पिता प्रत्यक्ष देवता हैं, और अन्य देवता परोक्ष हैं। पिता की आज्ञा का पालन किसी वैदिक यज्ञ या पूजा से बढ़कर है। राम अपने वनवास को 'दंड' नहीं, बल्कि 'पूजा' मान रहे हैं। जब कर्म को पूजा का रूप दे दिया जाता है, तो कष्ट समाप्त हो जाता है और केवल कर्तव्य रह जाता है।
