Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पुरम् च राष्ट्रम् च मही च केवला ।
मया निसृष्टा भरताय दीयताम् ।
अहम् निदेशम् भवतः अनुपालयन् ।
वनम् गमिष्यामि चिराय सेवितुम् ॥२-३४-५५॥
Puram ca rāṣṭram ca mahī ca kevalā । Mayā nisṛṣṭā bharatāya dīyatām । Aham nideśam bhavataḥ anupālayan । Vanam gamiṣyāmi cirāya sevitum ॥ ॥2-34-55॥
Translation
Let the city, the nation, and the entire earth, which I have renounced, be given to Bharata. Following your command, I shall go to the forest to dwell there for a long time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह नगर, यह राष्ट्र और यह संपूर्ण पृथ्वी—जिसे मैंने छोड़ दिया है—भरत को दे दी जाए। मैं आपकी आज्ञा का पालन करते हुए, लंबे समय तक (14 वर्ष) वन का सेवन करने (रहने) के लिए जाऊंगा।
English Commentary
The meter shifts here (likely to a mixture of Upajati), marking a tonal shift to formal declaration. Rama explicitly enumerates the assets—City, Nation, Earth—and formally renounces his claim (nisrishta), instructing that they be transferred to Bharata. He juxtaposes the kingdom for Bharata with the forest for himself, accepting both as parts of the same obedient act. This preemptively clears Bharata of any potential accusation of usurpation.

इस श्लोक में छंद (Meter) का परिवर्तन है, जो राम के आवेग और निश्चय को दर्शाता है। राम एक वसीयत की तरह सब कुछ भरत के नाम कर रहे हैं। 'मया निसृष्टा' (मेरे द्वारा त्यागी गई) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—राम यह जताना चाहते हैं कि भरत उनसे कुछ छीन नहीं रहे, बल्कि राम स्वयं उन्हें सौंप रहे हैं। इससे भविष्य में भाइयों के बीच कलह की संभावना समाप्त हो जाती है।
