Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न मे तथा पार्थिव धीयते मनो ।
महत्सु कामेषु न च आत्मनः प्रिये ।
यथा निदेशे तव शिष्ट सम्मते ।
व्यपैतु दुह्खम् तव मत् कृते अनघ ॥२-३४-५७॥
Na me tathā pārthiva dhīyate mano । Mahatsu kāmeṣu na ca ātmanaḥ priye । Yathā nideśe tava śiṣṭa sammate । Vyapaitu duḥkham tava mat kṛte anagha ॥ ॥2-34-57॥
Translation
O King! My mind is not fixed on great pleasures nor on my own happiness as much as it is on your command, which is respected by the wise. O Sinless One, let your sorrow on my account disappear.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राजन! मेरा मन न तो महान भोगों में लगता है और न ही अपने सुख में, जैसा कि शिष्ट (सज्जन) पुरुषों द्वारा सम्मानित आपकी आज्ञा के पालन में लगता है। हे निष्पाप! आप मेरे लिए दुख त्याग दें।
English Commentary
Rama reassures his father that he is not missing out on anything he values. He claims his mind does not dwell on mahatsu kameshu (great pleasures). Instead, he finds satisfaction in obeying a command that aligns with shishta (cultured/righteous) values. By calling Dasharatha Anagha (sinless), Rama absolves his father of guilt, reinforcing that this situation is a result of Dharma, not a crime committed by the King.
हिंदी टीका
राम अपने पिता को 'अनघ' (पाप-रहित) कहते हैं। दशरथ स्वयं को पापी मान रहे हैं, पर राम उन्हें निर्दोष बता रहे हैं। राम कहते हैं कि उनका मन राज-भोग में नहीं रमता। उनके लिए 'शिष्ट सम्मते' (विद्वानों द्वारा अनुमोदित) पिता की आज्ञा ही सर्वोपरि सुख है। राम यह सिद्ध कर रहे हैं कि वे त्याग मजबूरी में नहीं, बल्कि उच्च आदर्शों के प्रेम में कर रहे हैं।
