राजा भवतु ते पुत्रो भरतश्शास्तु मेदिनीम् ।
वयम् तत्र गमिष्यामो रामो यत्र गमिष्यति ॥ ॥२-३५-१०॥
Rājā bhavatu te putro bharataśśāstu medinīm । Vayam tatra gamiṣyāmo rāmo yatra gamiṣyati ॥ ॥2-35-10॥
Translation
"Let your son Bharat be the King and rule the earth. As for us, we will go there, wherever Rama goes."

"(यदि तुम नहीं मानती हो तो) तुम्हारा पुत्र भरत राजा बने और पृथ्वी पर शासन करे। हम तो वहीं जाएंगे, जहाँ राम जाएंगे।"
English Commentary
This is the ultimate rejection of Kaikeyi’s prize. Sumantra issues a stinging ultimatum: "Take the kingdom, but it will be empty." By declaring that "we" (implying the court, the loyalists, and the heart of the kingdom) will follow Rama, he renders Bharat’s inheritance worthless. It signifies that a King derives legitimacy from his people and dharma, not just a crown. It is a powerful declaration of loyalty to Rama, effectively telling Kaikeyi she has won a hollow victory.
