नूनम् सर्वे गमिष्यामो मार्गम् रामनिषेवितम् ।
त्यक्ताया बान्धवैः सर्वैर्ब्राह्मणैः साधुभिः सदा ॥ ॥२-३५-१२॥
Nūnam sarve gamiṣyāmo mārgam rāmaniṣevitam । Tyaktāyā bāndhavaiḥ sarvairbrāhmaṇaiḥ sādhubhiḥ sadā ॥ ॥2-35-12॥
Translation
Indeed, we shall all tread the path taken by Rama. You shall be forever abandoned by all your kinsmen, the Brahmins, and the virtuous.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हम सब निश्चय ही उसी मार्ग पर जाएंगे जिस पर राम चलेंगे। तुम सगे-संबंधियों, ब्राह्मणों और साधु पुरुषों द्वारा सदा के लिए त्याग दी जाओगी।
English Commentary
Sumantra declares a mass exodus of morality and loyalty. He asserts that the true kingdom resides with Rama, not within the physical borders of Ayodhya. By choosing to exile Rama, Kaikeyi is inadvertently exiling everyone who values virtue. Sumantra paints a bleak picture of Kaikeyi’s future: she may possess the crown, but she will rule over a void, abandoned by family, priests, and citizens. This verse underscores the ancient Indian political philosophy that a leader’s legitimacy comes from the support of the righteous (sadhubhih), not merely from technical authority.

यहाँ सुमंत्र कैकेयी के अकेलेपन की भविष्यवाणी करते हैं। वह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि प्रजा और मंत्री केवल सिंहासन के वफादार नहीं होते, वे गुणों और धर्म के वफादार होते हैं। राम धर्म के साक्षात स्वरूप हैं; अतः जहाँ राम हैं, वहीं अयोध्या है। सुमंत्र आक्रोश में कहते हैं कि कैकेयी को एक उजड़ा हुआ राज्य मिलेगा, क्योंकि सभी सज्जन पुरुष राम का अनुगमन करेंगे। यह एक शासक के लिए सबसे बड़ा अभिशाप है कि वह सत्ता के शिखर पर होकर भी अपने ही लोगों और परिवार द्वारा बहिष्कृत कर दिया जाए।
