महाब्रह्मर्षिसृष्टा वा ज्वलन्तो भीमदर्शना ।
धिग्वाग्दण्डणा न हिम्सन्ति रामप्रव्राजने स्थिताम् ॥ ॥२-३५-१५॥
Mahābrahmarṣisṛṣṭā vā jvalanto bhīmadarśanā । Dhigvāgdaṇḍaṇā na himsanti rāmapravrājane sthitām ॥ ॥2-35-15॥
Translation
Why do the burning, terrifying verbal rods of condemnation (curses) uttered by great Brahmarshis not destroy you, who are so intent on exiling Rama?

महान ब्रह्मर्षियों द्वारा उच्चारित, प्रज्वलित और भयंकर दिखने वाले 'धिक्कार' रूपी वाग्दण्ड (श्राप) राम को वन भेजने पर तुली हुई तुम्हें भस्म क्यों नहीं कर देते?
English Commentary
Sumantra wonders why the collective spiritual power of the sages has not yet incinerated Kaikeyi. In Vedic lore, the Vak-Danda (punishment by speech/curse) of a Brahmarshi is potent and inevitable. Sumantra visualizes these curses as "burning" and "terrifying." By persisting in exiling Rama, Kaikeyi is inviting cosmic wrath. Sumantra's statement underscores the spiritual immunity derived from pure obstinacy—or perhaps the delayed retribution of Karma. He implies that her actions are offensive enough to warrant immediate supernatural destruction.

सुमंत्र को आश्चर्य है कि साधु-संतों और ऋषियों का तेज और उनका क्रोध कैकेयी को जला क्यों नहीं रहा। प्राचीन काल में ऋषियों की वाणी ('वाग्दण्ड') को अस्त्र-शस्त्र से भी अधिक शक्तिशाली माना जाता था। 'धिग्वाग्दण्ड' का अर्थ है 'धिक्कार रूपी दंड'। सुमंत्र का मानना है कि राम का निर्वासन एक ऐसा पाप है जिसके लिए पूरा ब्रह्मांड कैकेयी को धिक्कार रहा है। वह यह प्रश्न उठाकर यह सिद्ध कर रहे हैं कि कैकेयी का यह हठ इतना कठोर है कि वह शाप और निंदा के भय से भी मुक्त हो चुकी है।
