परिवादो हि ते देवि महान्लोके चरिष्यति ।
यदि रामो बनम् याति विहाय पितरम् नृपम् ॥ ॥२-३५-३३॥
Parivādo hi te devi mahānloke cariṣyati । Yadi rāmo vanam yāti vihāya pitaram nṛpam ॥ ॥2-35-33॥
Translation
O Queen, a great scandal/infamy concerning you will spread in the world if Rama goes to the forest, leaving his father the King.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देवि! यदि राम अपने पिता राजा दशरथ को छोड़कर वन चले गए, तो संसार में तुम्हारी बहुत भारी निंदा (बदनामी) फैलेगी।
English Commentary
Sumantra appeals to Kaikeyi’s vanity and desire for social standing. He warns of Parivada—intense public scandal and infamy. If the exile happens, Kaikeyi will be branded historically as the villain. In the context of honor culture, preserving one's name is paramount. Sumantra warns her that the price of the throne for Bharat is the permanent destruction of her own reputation. She will rule over a kingdom that whispers insults about her.

सुमंत्र अब 'लोक-लाज' का भय दिखाते हैं। राजघराने के लिए कीर्ति और अपयश मृत्यु से भी बड़े प्रश्न होते हैं। 'परिवाद' का अर्थ है निंदा या कलंक। सुमंत्र चेतावनी देते हैं कि इतिहास कैकेयी को कभी क्षमा नहीं करेगा। यदि राम वन गए, तो लोग यही कहेंगे कि एक पत्नी ने अपने पति को तोड़ दिया और पुत्र को निकाल दिया। यह कलंक अमिट होगा। सुमंत्र उसे यह समझाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं कि राज्य मिल भी गया, तो बदनामी के साथ जीने का कोई अर्थ नहीं है।
